Shabbat & Prayer

Youth & Family Services

Shabbat Shalom!

Each week we offer multiple services with inspiring leaders in unique venues to meet the Shabbat needs of our families and their children. Services are participative, informative and age appropriate. All are welcome to join us. We hope to see you there!

Tot Shabbat

Virtual:

Every Shabbat | 1:15 pm

Join Rabbi Aliza and friends on Zoom* and Facebook Live for Tot Shabbat perfect for children ages 0-5!

*We’ll feature everyone who turns on their video on Zoom in our Facebook livestream. Request your favorite song, show us your dance moves or introduce us to your stuffed friend! Services will also be livestreamed to Facebook so that any friends who can’t join at 1:15 can still watch later. Email Cayla Berkowitz for the Zoom link.

Pre/Post Covid:

Every Shabbat – 11:00 am to 12:00 pm in our Children’s Chapel (Housman Activity Center)

For babies, toddlers, preschoolers and their parents: Music, movement, sharing and stories with a Shabbat theme. Story or Torah discussion as well. An informal first introduction to formal Jewish prayer.

Our Tot Shabbat service leaders are accompanied by parents in prayer, song and movement as we celebrate Shabbat together. Enjoy challah and juice after each service.

Our children then participate with the entire congregation in the conclusion of the morning services in the Rabbi Samuel Chiel Sanctuary, and join everyone in the community at our weekly Kiddush immediately following services.

Generously sponsored by Sisterhood Temple Emanuel

Ruach Shabbat (Grades K – 5)

In-Person

Shabbat | 10:45 am

Join Jon Tatelman on Shabbat morning under the tent at Temple Emanuel for a fun children’s service!

Pre/Post Covid:

Ruach Shabbat services for school-age children in kindergarten through grade 5 are held from 10:45 am to Noon each week.

Ruach Shabbat begins each week with Jewish games and activities and is followed by a service filled with spirited prayer, engaging music, interactive learning and fun. Each of our dynamic Ruach Shabbat leaders offers an age-appropriate service that makes prayer meaningful. All children then participate with the entire congregation in the conclusion of the morning services in the Rabbi Samuel Chiel Sanctuary, and join the full community at our weekly Kiddush immediately following services.

Special Ruach Shabbat services are held each month – a Birthday service and a Family Service. Birthday Shabbat is a monthly celebration during our Ruach Shabbat service honoring all of our children who have birthdays that month.
